Google update task user
I'm a little confused, that scheduled task only shows up to my knowledge if Chrome has been installed or something like Google Desktop search has been installed. IF you do not want software to be installed, then you need to configure a GPO to have software restriction policies in place. Delete the tasks, think about if you want users accessing the internet through your terminal server. Looking at it again, Chrome is definitely not installed.
So there are no Chrome updates to remove. Or anything else from Google for that matter. According to a Google website , GoogleUpdate. Knowing my users, I would reckon it was Google Earth.
They often use that to find out where clients properties are, as it relates to the insurance premium. It will run from the browser, but there are options to install it. The Group Policy would have stopped any install, but the thread to update the scheduler must have ran. However, I've checked using Taskschd. Which means they have permission to add a task.

But as far as removing it, I killed the process AND removed the Registry key, and it still came back, and in the same session even. Its better to just install the enterprise version of Chrome browser if users want to use it. That way you can at least control some of these things with GPOs. Agreed with above though. Also, the scheduled task is for the auto update function. This can be removed but you will have to manually check for chrome updates.
I don't want to install Chrome at this stage, many of the Insurers we deal with will only support IE. Thanks David, but I think we're on different pages. I should be clearer here - how do make sure there are no chrome updates? I don't want any updates, as Chrome isn't installed. And I don't want to install it.
This goes back to Bill Kindles message, where he said that I should manually check for Chrome updates, as part of stopping the scheduled tasks. My apologies Sandworm, I see what you mean. How about checking your installed programs on your 2k8 terminal server? Start - search bar type add or remove, open add or remove programs and see if Google Chrome appears on your installed list of programs?
