Firefox downloads are corrupt

On the first point, that's definitely not what is happening. These files are not being truncated, but rather have segments missing, corrupted or added in various parts of the file usually the middle. On the second point, I don't see much in there that applies directly, but a few of them appear to be at least worthwhile to try.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll report back once I've tried those steps that have any potential. Is it a problem with Firefox specifically? In other words, are other browsers able to successfully complete the same download?

Yes, Firefox specifically. Please see 2 in my question. Ah, yes. Did you try re-installing Firefox? Show 1 more comment.

I rarely download to the default folder. Instead, I browse to the folder where I want the file to go to. That takes time and the thing is, as soon as you click a download link, the download actually start in the background to the temporary folder.

This is where the problem happen. If I fool around too long say over 10 seconds to get to the destination folder, the file is always corrupted. I also found that the smaller the file, the less time I have to select my destination folder. It seems the bug is proportional to the size of the file you download. At some point no matter how large your file, if you wait too long, it' will get corrupted.

Note that oddly enough, is the file is very small, say below K, it's never corrupted. I have found that if I select my folder and click "save" withing 5 second, the vast majority of my files are NOT corrupted. So the whole problem is how Firefox manage the buffered download until you press "save". Every BIOS, firmware and driver up to date.
