Opened the cover and spun the motor a few times, then gave it power.

Left the power on and spun it a few more times and it started and it has run fine since. I suspect it stopped on a 'flat' spot and could not quite get going again. Could be the brushes have gone also, there should be two ports on opposite sides of the motor where they are located. So much for simple ideas.

Popeye the Sailor Man. Dewalt and Black and Decker are the same company the saws are probably the same too Well, I don't have a diagnosis yet. The tech there plugged it in and played around with the powercord and it was running.

They suspect the switch or power cord. I have probably way too many hours on this saw. But it went out all of a sudden. Then maybe moving it in my car to the repair center and unkinking the power cord made it turn on. Since it is under warranty, less than 1 year old, they kept the saw to fix, and told me to call them in a week.

Thanks for the help. I'll be sure to find out why so that next time, if it is not under warranty I would have more clues. It was the power switch.
